The main types of ceiling lamps

December 31, 2018

A huge assortment of ceiling lamps that we see in the market and in the specialized departments of stores, on the one hand, provides a wider selection, but on the other, it complicates it. Indeed, a person who is weakly imagines what lighting device he needs is difficult to decide.

In fact, everything is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. You just need to clearly understand what light you want to get. Awareness of this moment significantly reduces the search circle, and the choice will not only not seem difficult for you, but even give pleasure. Agree, it’s always nice to choose a thing with knowledge.

By lighting

Lighting -ups – one of the most important parameters when selecting a ceiling lamp. It directly depends on this characteristic how comfortable you will feel. In terms of lighting, lighting can be: direct, mainly direct, mainly scattered and scattered.

Direct lighting provides for a directed stream of light to a specific zone, for example, a desk, a cabinet or a picture. Only spotlights give such light. The device of mainly direct lighting, except for the target zone, partially illuminates the space around it. This effect is achieved using lampshades from transparent material. Completely and partially scattered lighting is achieved by a change in the structure of the plafones and is used in bedrooms, children’s and living rooms.

In terms of functionality, lighting can be divided into basic, working and decorative. The main one is used when an enhanced visual concentration on the subject or object is not required. The worker, on the contrary, is necessary for local backlight for reading, sewing, working with small details. Decorative is used for illumination of mirrors, paintings and interior elements.

Lamps for ceiling lighting

In most modern lamps with fastening on the ceiling, you can use lamps of various types, so this factor of influence does not have a choice of technology. But in order to choose the most economical and suitable option for specific conditions, you need to know what lighting elements are.

The first type is good to everyone familiar incandescent lamps. They are short -lived, have low efficiency and greater heat transfer. The scope of incandescent lamps is limited. For example, they are not suitable for suspended ceilings, since hot glass can damage the ceiling sheet.

Halogen lamps largely resemble the previous type of lighting elements, but due to the use of halogen they heat up less and serve longer. But you can’t call them economical. But the fluorescent paws are already much better. They serve 5-20 times longer than incandescent lamps and consume less electricity 5-6 times.

But the most economical and durable are LED lighting elements. They are absolutely safe, have high efficiency, do not heat up, consume little energy and are able to work out from 20 to 50 thousand hours. LED lamps are more expensive than other lighting elements, but work without replacement for years, so they fully pay off the money spent.

How to calculate the required amount of light

The illumination of the room depends on the strength of the luminous flux, which is measured in lumens (lm). To calculate this parameter, it is necessary to multiply the area of the room by the normative indicator of illumination and by the coefficient of the height of the ceiling. So, for a computerized office there is enough light flow of 200 lm, for the room where drawing work is performed – 500 lm, for the hall – 75 lm, and for a living room – 150 lm.

Types of ceiling lamps

There are several varieties of lighting devices that differ from each other in the method of fastening and light rendering. On this site you can see how various types of ceiling lamps look like, and get acquainted with their characteristics. The online store presents devices of domestic and foreign production. You can buy equipment using a convenient purchase service or order by phone.

Suspended

Suspended lamps include chandeliers. For low rooms, compact devices are selected, for a high room you can choose a large crystal chandelier with a long leg or with mounting on the chain.

Overhead

False lighting devices are rigidly attached to the base and are used in low rooms. They are compact and flat of the ceiling.

Built -in

Built -in ceiling lamps are intended mainly for drywall and stretch ceilings. Are a small round structure, which is inserted into the hole on the ceiling and is held using a spring.

Spots

Spots are a kind of mix of built -in and overhead devices. They are designed for point lighting of specific areas and have a rotary structure, so the direction of the light flow can be changed.
