The majority of British citizens want a restart of trade relations with the EU rather than a tariff deal with the US, according to a YouGov poll for the Best for Britain organisation.
“A clear majority of UK voters want the government to focus on restoring trade ties with the EU rather than concluding a new economic agreement with the US,” writes the Guardian newspaper, which cites the results of the poll.
As the publication notes, 68% of British voters believe that closer relations with the EU will allow the UK to improve its trade situation.
At the same time, when the British were asked to choose from 20 areas on which the UK government should focus, the country’s ability to sign new trade deals with the US was only in 17th place.
