Volkswagen Polo has become an incredibly successful product for the German automaker: the car diverged more than 12 million units. The compact city car turned out to be incredibly popular in the markets of developing countries.
The current generation Polo is based on the PQ25 platform, which is also used in Seat Ibiza, Audi A1, Skoda Fabia, Yeti, Rapid and Seat Toledo.
But the new Polo, which will appear in 2015, will be built on the basis of the MQB modular platform. Using the latter will reduce the weight of the car by 7%.
As for the engines, their part is borrowed from the current model, and the part will be completely new. We expect that the German automaker will bet on low-volume units, in particular for a 1-liter engine from Up! and 1.2-liter diesel.
As for the appearance, Polo has always been known as little Golf. The new generation will not be an exception. Therefore, the exterior design will be inspired by the recently represented seventh generation Golf.
